THE WELLNESS EDITION NO. 5 - EAT FRUIT! COME FRUTA! ESST OBST!
The Wellness Edition Number Five is out! I decided to work on something colourful today since it is so dark and grey outside. Yesterday was a beautiful day and I got to soak up lots of sunshine but today it is quite the opposite and it is also supposed to rain the whole weekend...needless to say that this weather forecast does not make me happy.
Back to the Wellness part, I made a small poster saying 'eat fruit' in Spanish. I guess I opted for the Spanish version because I pretty much lived on fruit and seafood after moving to Barcelona. Well, fruit and seafood are my favourite food I have to say. If good fruit and yummy seafood are available, it is all I need. I liked working with all these colours in today's graphic, I might come up with more fruit projects from now on.
WAITING FOR SUMMER
I can't wait for summer and all the good local fruits we can get here then. Right now I don't go overboard with fruit, simply because the fruit that is available does not taste great. It just ain't the season yet! But friends, soon we can get all the good local fruit and I absolutely cannot wait. For you guys who are interested in nutrition (I was pretty much obsessed with nutrition for many years) according to scientist Dr. Raymond Peat, you should eat a pro-metabolic diet mainly consisting of fruit, dairy, shellfish and liver occasionally. So basically load up on carbs (fruit, honey, orange juice and even white sugar) and protein. Then your liver and in consequence also your thyroid will be happy. I have Hashimoto's and this beast made my life miserable for many years (yes, therefore the nutrition obsession) and eating a peaty way certainly makes me feel much better.
CALORIES ARE IMPORTANT
Another aspect also is that I don't restrict food groups anymore (yes, history of orthorexia and anorexia here as well), I just eat whatever my body craves and now I tolerate pretty much everything that made me feel miserable before. Calories are a major component to feel healthy. It makes me sad that mainstream nutrition is always telling us to eat minimal calories, it made me feel miserable for years, and I think one main reason for finally feeling healthier is that I make sure that I consume enough calories now. I don't let myself go hungry anymore which was the norm for me before. A major change since consuming enough calories is that I am a lot more relaxed, my body is not cold anymore and I finally have a normal body temperature now (before it was always way tooo low) and my hair grows much better again as well. Calories are important, your body needs fuel.
So, eat fruit and have a great weekend!
