THE WELLNESS EDITION NO. 6 - GRATITUDE
I think gratitude seriously gives you a lot of joy and happiness - because instead of focusing on what you are lacking, you focus on all the good things that are existent in your life. And friends, let's be honest! It is quite a lot we can be happy about. Just to name a few; living at a safe place, having a nice home, good health, being surrounded by friends and family. Being grateful every day for these things plays a major part in me being pretty happy most of the days. Of course I have bad days as well from time to time, but I am happy to say that the majority of days I am pretty happy, relaxed and optimistic. I am honest with you, that was not always the case. Very good I remember the dark days when I was just depressed like hell. Happily they are gone, maybe that is why I appreciate the little things in life even more than probably many other people.
STOP LOOKING AT WHAT IS MISSING
Unfortunately many people only see what they don't have instead of seeing how 'rich' they are (speaking here not in a material way). Often I hear folks complaining about not making enough money even though they make more money than the most other people, or always wanting a new gadget instead of being happy with the ones they already have. I have to say, to all these 'luxury problems' I cannot relate at all. I lived in countries much poorer than the one where I live now, which is Germany, where people often whine at a very high level!
So focus on all the good things in your life, feel gratitude for everyone and everything good surrounding you and you will see how much happier you are going to be on the long run. Today I am grateful for the sunshine outside. I woke up with joint pain this morning, then spent some time in the sun and now the pain is gone. So thank you dear sunshine!
