The Freelance Issue No.23 // The Bridge Job
So my dear, let us have a talk about bridge jobs today. First of all what is a bridge job? Well, it is a job you work in meanwhile you try to work on something else, like for example establishing your own business. The good thing about the bridge job; you make money, you don’t have to worry about how you are going to pay your bills! That I call a big thing! Because it takes away your worries and your fears. Another cool thing about a bridge job is that you probably spend less time working in it as you did in your full-time job. Big big win because then you have more time and energy to work on your own projects and goals. And the coolest part about the bridge job is that you can network like hell! How awesome is that, right? I also have a bridge job and I quite like it.
My bridge job is working as a language teacher because besides design I also have a background in languages and translation. I am not really keen about teaching classes in language school anymore because I really dislike the industry, even though I enjoy the teaching but I like teaching expats at big companies, what is what I currently do. It’s great for networking and through this job I met tons of nice people from all over the world, which is something that I really love about my bridge job. And they are all super excited about my shop launch as well, which gives me a lot of motivation to finally get started with it. And the best thing is once I start my email list, I have so many contacts from all over the world and they can recommend my shop and my products to their friends and family if they like what I do. That is amazing for me and I can’t wait to bring lots of beauty into homes all over the world.
I am also proud of myself because I finally got a bit productive concerning the shop. Today I ordered test prints (different paper material and one canvas) and now I am researching packaging material. Next step is to design thank you cards and notes for the shop and gift vouchers. Also I have to start a Shopify account so I can design the shop and integrate it into my website. Oh, and let’s talk about branding, I want to rebrand before I launch. You see I am busy here. I want to launch the shop in August or September, I really want it to happen soon and still this year. I am so excited about my shop and it fills my heart with joy, love and happiness when I think about the fact that I will package my designs with lots of love and ship them all over the world where my clients will be happy about having gorgeous art prints for their homes. Really, how cool is that.
