Stay Home

So the situation with Corona / Covid_19 keeps getting worse and worse. Therefore I could barely work this week and it is very unlikely that the majority of us will get back to living our normal life soon again, going to work every day like we did before. Truth is staying home is not a punishment for me, I love my home and I am super grateful for living in a cozy tiny apartment that thankfully also has a balcony with quite a nice view. But I can imagine how hard it must be for families with little children staying at home, entertaining the kids while working in the home office.

As much as the current situation sucks, I will try to look it as an opportunity to leave my comfort zone, to create my own digital products and to challenge myself to learn tons of new things, to declutter and clean my apartment, to read all the books I bought and haven’t read yet, for cooking and baking. So basically to use the time for working on myself and for myself.

I miss going to Merck and teaching my students there since I really like my job a lot so I hope that the current situation that we are facing will be over in a few months. I am pretty sure a curfew will follow in a few days and in the past few days it felt like living in a surreal parallel world. I never ever thought to experience such a scenario in my life and even though I was super little when Chernobyl blew up, I still remember the fear and the uncertainty that was felt at that time and the situation we are facing right now reminds me a lot of it.

Let’s all try to find joy in the little things now during this hard time, better times will come again and I can’t wait for the time to meet up with friends again, to go to restaurants and to bars for dinner and drinking Aperol Spritz, BBQs in the garden with friends and family, chilling out at the SPA and of course traveling. My plan was going to Spain and Shanghai but the way it looks now I can completely cross that out but who knows, maybe in a few months the situation is better again and then I can go for it.

So, let’s try to stay strong, to be kind to each other and to make the best out of a not so good situation.

Lots of love,

Phyllis
