TFI NO.18 // Ghosting Clients
Ghosting! It not just happens in relationships and friendships, no - it also happens on the business side. I experienced that quite a few times that people inquire about my services, I get in touch with them and then I never ever hear from them again. How strange is that?!
It even went so far that I gave out free phone consultations, sent out my branding questionnaire, participated on the Pinterest branding board, made an offer…and the future client ghosted and I never heard back from them again! Nothing! It happens quite frequently and not just to me it seems. Apparently clients even ghost after giving you the order from what I heard from other designers.
One thing that I learned for sure is that I won’t give out free phone calls anymore, not participate on Pinterest mood boards anymore, not going to send out my questionnaire anymore. I won’t do anything of that anymore unless a contract is signed and a deposit payment has been made. This is healthy boundary setting because that way indecisive people (or people who are on the hunt for the cheapest designer) can’t waste my time and resources anymore. Because I can’t afford to have my precious time wasted by others.
Well, I decided for myself that clients who ghost are not my ideal clients. End of story. I don’t want to work with people who don’t value me and my work and who have horrible work ethics when working with another service-based business. Nope, they are not for me I am not for them.
