The Freelance Issue No. 17 // Is blogging dead?

These days I often wonder if blogging is dead. It seems many people don’t really read blogs anymore, instead they hop on Instagram and watch Stories there or read post captions what actually counts as a microblog. Are people not interested in reading long texts anymore? Has social media led to people having such a short attention span that they rather watch a short instastory or something on Snapchat? I don’t even know if Snapchat is still a thing since I never used it. But more and more I get the feeling that blogging is not really so popular anymore among readers as it still was a few years back.

I love to blog and I still love reading blogs as well. I think a blog is also a great tool for a blogger to see your own progress and growth, also to stay inspired and to keep creating and writing, also it is a great way to connect with like-minded folks. Of course this is also possible on Instagram but not in depth as it is through blogging.

I know for sure that I continue to blog, even if it is not anymore en vogue anymore as it was a few years ago, but for me blogging means pure happiness. I can share my thoughts, I can reach people and maybe inspire them or help them in a way that they see they are not alone with what they are going through and I always stay creative and inspired because otherwise this place gets boring and inactive. Also it helps me to stay accountable because whenever I announce here that I am going to do something I will stick to it much likelier than I would if I just decided it in my little head without telling the world. Sometimes I just wished I had started with blogging earlier but well, apparently I was not ready for it before I started and that’s ok. We have to do things in our own rhythm and time.
