Little Luxuries // The Lockdown Chronicles

Lately I realised that I have not been to a restaurant, café or a bar since 5 months…because everything has been closed since the lockdown started 5 months ago. I really love to go out for dinner and drinks with my friends and since I cannot do that lately I decided to treat myself with what I call ‘Little Luxuries’ every day.

For example ordering a pizza after a long day, taking a taxi instead of taking public transport, cooking myself a nice meal, enjoying delicious food and wine with friends and of course all the awesome kitchen gadgets that I bought during the first lockdown (hello Weber grill, vacuum robot, ice cream maker) and now I treated myself with an air fryer since air fryers got hyped all over the internet.

What should I say; I am glad I bought this thing, since I love fried chicken and now I realised that the chicken that I make with the air fryer tastes a whole lot better than the one from KFC and needless to say that it is much healthier also since it is not fried in cheap PUFA oil.

Also I ordered sunglasses online, another little luxury - normally I always bought sunglasses on the go in a drugstore or at H&M just because the sun was so bright and I urgently needed some but this time I decided to buy a nice pair having in mind that I can hopefully use it soon when the gastronomy is allowed to open again. So I am looking forward to sitting in the sun in a nice café with my bestie while sipping a drink. As you can see, it is the little things that bring joy and happiness.

So, the concept of little luxuries in daily life does the trick for me to cheer myself up during this let’s say tied-at-home-episode. I just like to call them little luxuries because this gives me more a feeling of excitement and appreciation and that in consequence brings me more joy and happiness every single day. Of course you might say ordering a pizza is something trivial but I like to see it as something special and a nice treat because like that I enjoy it a whole lot more.

Treat yourself with a little bit of luxury every day - and remember, it does not even have to be something expensive. A little luxury can even be something that does not cost a dime, like taking a walk and enjoying nature and some sunshine.

Happy weekend.
