Joe Dispenza Meditations

About one month ago I started the ‘breaking the habit of being yourself’ meditation by Dr. Joe Dispenza and after having started meditating I also read the book ‘breaking the habit of being yourself’. Joe Dispenza meditations are very powerful. I stumbled over his name many times before but never thought about doing his meditations since I was meditating with the Down Dog app for quite sometime and I think this app is a great introduction into the topic of meditating. Because before meditating with Down Dog nothing ever hooked me on meditations but through this app I had a breakthrough moment realising that meditating really makes you feel good, calm down and be a lot more relaxed in general - as everyone always said but before it never worked for me.

So, why have I decided to take my meditations to the next level you might wonder?! Well, if you have been following this blog for a while, you might remember that I was dealing a lot with anxiety and panic attacks and just being super nervous all the time in general. I was listening to a few podcasts with Joe Dispenza watching testimonials on YouTube of people who attended his retreats and then I thought, hey why not give it a shot? So I bought the ‘breaking the habit of being yourself’ meditation on his website and got started.

This meditation is powerful. I realised that it helps you feel feelings that have been buried for a long time. The first few times when doing this one hour long meditation it made me cry which really surprised me since I am the kinda girl that almost never cries. But, it felt good to release lots of old stuff that apparently was buried very deep inside my soul. I had done therapy for a long time but the thing is in therapy you talk yourself through your feelings instead of feeling them. Therapy is good and helpful, don’t get me wrong. But I think mediation lets you dive into your feelings on a much deeper level and actually lets you FEEL them (thanks Shari Schreiber here for having figured this out). Folks who struggle with anxiety have problems with feeling their feelings since they analyse them in their brain instead of feeling them and this of course does not help to release emotions and feelings that have rooted themselves in you body (Joe Dispenza refers to the body as the subconscious mind) so through mediation you can access them and let them go.

Also I learned through Joe Dispenza that anxiety and panic attacks are just one side of depression. I did not know this before but it sounds very logical to me since I read before that anxiety and depression are related.

This is powerful stuff but you really have to commit to it and do the meditation every day in order to make them work for you. I have been doing this for a little over a month now and I can attest that I feel much much better already after this short period of time. It is an act of self-love to commit to yourself and to commit to healing your body and soul through dedicating at least one hour of your day to meditate. I am pretty impressed with my Joe Dispenza mediation journey so far and I am excited to see how things will continue.
