The Wellness Edition No.73 // The Little Things

I was scrolling through my latest blog posts the other day and then I noticed that I have not created a collage in a very long time, I had just been illustrating all the time - so I decided it is time to work on a collage again for once!

So, today I wanna talk about ‘the little things’ because let’s face it. Very often it is the little things that bring us lots of joy, even when some folks won’t notice it right away because it’s the little things that are often taken for granted. But once you are more aware of how much joy the little things in life can bring, then you can appreciate them a lot more and feel gratitude…which will also lift your spirits and bring you joy and happiness.

Instead of focusing on all the negative or on lack, it is better to focus on all the good and on all the good things that are already present in our lives - and believe me, for most of us it is quite a lot already I think.

The little things that I appreciate on a daily basis;

  • my cosy apartment and the area I live in

  • working in a job that I truly love and that gives me lots of freedom and creativity

  • working with lovely people

  • my wonderful friends and family

  • waking up to sunshine (German weather ain’t the best for being honest, so I am even more grateful whenever I wake up to sunshine)

  • fridge and freezer full of nourishing homemade food

  • the vacuum robot, the Weber grill and the ice cream maker that I bought during lockdown

  • pizza delivery on lazy Sundays

  • writing down my goals in my notebook every morning

  • cooking and baking

  • traveling (I hope soon it’s possible again)

  • that I freed myself from toxic family, toxic friendships and relationships

  • that I finally figured out the kind of ‘career’ I want to have in life, well it’s not a career in my case, it’s a lifestyle

  • working with fantastic people from all over the world

  • working in an international work-environment

  • that I figured out a way of eating and living that supports my thyroid and keeps autoimmune symptoms at bay

  • working with people who value me and see me as an equal business partner (believe me, that is a big one, in most jobs I had, I was often treated as the dumb insecure blonde, not taken seriously, underpaid and overworked…you get the picture)

  • that I was not hit by the Corona crisis and it did not financially ruin me (that ain’t a little thing I know, it is quite a biggie, but every day I am grateful here)

  • being financially independent

  • taking things into my own hands, taking action to create the kind of life that I want to live, freeing myself from expectations of society

As you can see, the list got quite long. Actually it got a lot longer than I planned but that is fine. The more you appreciate what you have already, the more good things will be on your way I believe.

Lots of love,

Phyllis
