The Wellness Edition No. 13 - Natural Beauty

The Wellness Edition No. 13 - Natural Beauty, by Phylleli. Ladies, we all know the feeling of feeling not pretty enough, not good enough and so on, being loaded with negative self-talk. Let'a stop it and be kind to us! #thewellnessedition #phylleli …

A few days ago, I found this beautiful fern while taking a walk outside. So I took it home, scanned it and decided to experiment with it for the next Wellness Edition post. It seems to me that many other bloggers are super organised with their topics and editorial schedules.

Well, I am not one of them. I pretty much just do whatever floats my boat. I want to experiment and challenge myself creatively. So bringing everything in to a special form and order would not be helpful for my purposes I suppose. But my goal is to post as often as I can!

Beauty

Let's face it! Big media and society have completely screwed up the definition of beauty! As girls and  women we are told we have to look a certain way to be perceived as beautiful. In the Western world being skinny was always the big goal and it seems that this has shifted to being 'fit' now. Fit is the new skinny.

We are only beautiful if we have the perfect skin, hair, teeth and so on. You get the idea, right? It is very easy to get soaked into all the unrealistic expectations that are imposed on us and to feel worthless because of it. Even though this should not happen, we all know better but quite often our emotions won't let go of it. You have to free yourself from the unrealistic beauty standards and expectations to feel well in your own body and to find inner peace. I know how hard it is but it is possible, it just takes some time.

Natural Beauty

Ladies, you all are beautiful inside out. Embrace your inner and outer beauty and let go of society's imposed and unrealistic beauty standards. Your character and your heart make you a beautiful person, it is not only depending on the looks. Besides the fact that if somebody perceives you as beautiful or not is entirely subjective anyways. What did Plato already say? "beauty lies in the eye of the beholder."

Nobody even really cares how you look, except for you. Your friends and family care about you as a human being, about your soul, your character...beauty comes from within. Please keep that in mind the next time you look in the mirror and don't like what you see.

I often struggle as well with not feeling good about my looks. I guess it is unfortunately quite normal among us women. But at least there are also many days when I look into the mirror and I am quite happy with what I see. I just think we should try to be kinder to us whenever we can. How often do I catch myself in negative self-talk, this my friends is not what we need for feeling well. So whenever you realise the negative self-talk of being not good enough, not pretty enough try to mute the inner vicious voice in your head because what this voice is trying to tell you is just not true. Try to mute it and face reality. you are good enough, you are pretty enough, you are kind enough so please be good to yourself.

Anyone of you ladies also struggling with your self-worth? Let me know in the comments or an email!
