A Well Spent Sunday // September Edition
So this is a very spontaneous blog post that I am writing on this wonderful Sunday evening. I had a great weekend spent with good friends, delicious food and wine and even lots of sunshine and pretty good weather.
Friday night and pretty much my whole Saturday I spent preparing my German classes next week. Yes friends, you don't even know that yet - I spontaneously found a new part-time job as a language teacher in a language school and tomorrow I start working there as a German teacher. It is perfect, it is exactly the kind of side job I was looking for. From Monday until Friday I teach about 1,5 hours max. 3 hours per day. I teach individual classes and one small group on Tuesday and Thursday evenings.
I love teaching languages and this job is exactly the kind of job I was dreaming of. I get to teach people who want to learn the language of the country they are now living in for work or other reasons, I make enough money that I can pay my bills and even enjoy things again like going out for dinner and drinks, something I really had to cut back a lot ever since becoming self-employed, and I don't have to constantly worry about money anymore which also means that I will finally be able to sleep better at night again. Besides that I still have enough time to design and blog as I did before. So this is perfect and I feel so happy and grateful to start working at my new school.
All my colleagues I have met so far and my boss are super sympathetic and I already feel as part of the team, even though I have not started yet, but whenever I was at the school for the two interviews and for the course planning, I felt very welcomed by each person I met and I am so excited to be part of this International team from now on and being a language teacher also is such a great chance to meet new wonderful people.
I'm not sure though if I can make it to keep up with my idea of blogging every day in September because right now planning my lessons and improving my teacher skills has my top priority. I think after having worked for a few weeks, I will have found a new routine concerning lesson preparation and also designing and blogging. So be patient if I don't make it in the beginning to blog as much as I have lately, but my plan is to find a good balance between teaching and designing and blogging. But as we all know, creating new routines can quite take some time.
At a certain point I also plan to redesign my website into a magazine style since my blog is mainly my portfolio that gets constantly updated. I had this idea for a while now because I think a blog is a very vivid portfolio since it constantly changes and evolves. But that I will do in a few weeks that Phylleli gets a new website design that reflects more an online magazine. How do you like this idea? You think it is a good fit for Phylleli?
Like I said already, I spent my Saturday getting ready to teach and in the evening I met up with friends and we went to a small fair in one of my favourite suburbs. There was a cover band playing and it was a mild evening that we spent outside listening to live music, eating yummy food and drinking wine.
I also had a well-spent Sunday that I spent with my mom and her boyfriend, later on I took a walk in the part of town where I live, walked along the lake and ended my walk enjoying an Aperol Spritz at my favourite café, at the Woog Café right at the lake. Then I walked home and realised that even more leaves are on the streets now, so you can finally feel the Fall vibes now. While strolling through my barrio, I took some photos that I am sharing here with you so you can see how pretty the part of Darmstadt is where I live. Raw and unedited photos that I took with my phone.
I hope you also enjoyed your weekend and hopefully enjoyed your Sunday as much as I did.
xx, Phyllis
