The Wellness Edition No. 45 // do more of what makes you happy
Let’s talk about happiness today. We all want to be happy, right? Sometimes we are happy right away because we wake up with a good mood and have an awesome day while on other days we wake up in a bad mood and wonder how we should survive the day. And on those days feeling happy becomes a little tricky. Sometimes something good happens and our mood gets better, but there are days when the only thing cheering us up is the moment whenever we go to bed and know that the next day will be better. And there are also days in between when we neither feel great nor bad. And on those days our mood can get really good or really bad, kind of depends on how the day is going.
Overall I’d say it is important to do more of what makes you happy. Especially on days whenever you feel quite the opposite of happiness, those are the days where it is most important to do something you really love doing and enjoy. This of course is different for everyone, so your task is to figure out what brings you joy and happiness and to stick to that. Best are things you can do on a daily basis that don’t need much planning or preparation, because the more tangible things are the easier we stick to them. In my case, I feel extremely happy whenever I can do something creative, meet up with friends and family, spend some time at the SPA, reading etc. All of that is easy to arrange and to include in daily life and the effect it has on my mood and wellbeing is really huge. So find out what works for you and make sure to follow all the awesome things that bring you joy.
I know that the holiday season that we are having now is a lot of stress for a lot of folks. So please focus on yourself, set boundaries and do something that you really enjoy and want to do. It is absolutely necessary to take time for yourself and to recharge your batteries. And doing things that bring joy really help here a lot.
