Aina Lahaina Resort // The Logo Series

Today I was working on another self-initiated logo design project for a luxurious hotel resort based in Lahaina on the beautiful Hawaiian island O'ahu. I don't know why, but lately I am obsessed with everything Hawaii. I will most probably come up with more Hawaiian inspired designs for a while.

I traveled to Hawaii in 2003 and I absolutely loved spending time on the islands. I only traveled to O'ahu but that island was just great. I really want to go back to Hawaii sometime and then also explore the other islands. Basically it is my dream to work on a project with someone based in Hawaii sometime. 

So here I designed the logo for a luxurious hotel and resort that was already founded in the 1970ies and I wanted to keep some of that spirit in the logo design, therefore I chose a vintage palm tree as a visual element to include and a font that has some vintage spirit as well. It is a family run hotel with a lot of tradition and it was important to keep the vintage and traditional based elements in the design. If you follow along for a while, you also know how obsessed I am with palm trees, so of course I had to include a vintage illustration of a palm tree. For a logo variation I would go for a minimal palm tree line art, so maybe this will follow when I explore this branding project more in-depth but for now I put the main focus on designing just the logo. As much as I love creating collages, I felt it is time to move on to something else for now. So at that time, I stick with logos.
