TWE NO.28 // ORGANIC SKINCARE

TWE NO.28 // ORGANIC SKINCARE

This weekend my mom and I were chatting on WhatsApp about tooth paste which inspired me to write something about organic skincare. I have been using organic toothpaste for at least 10 years now since normal toothpaste is pure chemistry that certainly is not good for your body and besides that it is so foamy that it makes me want to puke whenever I brush my teeth with a regular one. This is not a sponsored post, I am just sharing my thoughts and experiences here with you. So far my favourite organic tooth paste is the Weleda Sole toothpaste. It is not foamy at all and it just feels good to brush my teeth with it.

Actually many many years ago what actually led me to get into nutrition was skin problems. My skin is super sensitive so I spent hours researching the internet about what to do to better take care of my skin. In the end I came to the conclusion that more is less and that I only use organic skincare products. For a while my approach was that I won't put anything on my skin that I would not put into my mouth but I realised that using coconut oil or ghee as a face cream does not work for me since my skin just won't absorb it at all and all that happens is that I have a layer of fat in my face. This is not good.

My favourite brands for organic skincare are Dr. Hauschka and Weleda. I had been using the Weleda baby cream for many years as a face cream and it helped my skin to be less irritated and whenever I have irritations and inflammations in my face I always go back to that Weleda baby cream and the zink oxide that the cream contains helps the healing process. About one year ago I discovered the Dr. Hauschka rose cream and ever since that this is my favourite. It absorbs super quickly and my skin feels soft and nourished whenever I use it. About one week ago I bought the Weleda renewing wild rose eye cream and I really like it a lot so far. Truth is, this is the first time I bought an eye cream and I really enjoy this cream a lot.

I still think that creams won't to any miracles, it is important to live a lifestyle that makes you feel vital but taking good care of your skin as well certainly won't hurt. What do I mean when I talk about lifestyle?! Make sure you get enough sleep and rest, take care of eating a balanced and nourishing diet that makes you feel well (different for everyone, just figure out what works for you) and don't overdo the partying, drinking, smoking and whatever gets toxic once it is overdone, moderation is key. Of course we all get older (and hopefully wiser) and that is okay, that is the way of life, but we can do quite a lot to make sure we age with joy and grace. It makes me sad that ageing has such a bad reputation in our Western society. It is part of the circle of life and beauty doesn't equate with flawless wrinkle-free skin or weighing 50 kg. Beauty comes with all shapes and ages and we should put the focus on this and not superficial stuff like weight, skin etc. It is really sad in my opinion that we live in such a superficial and self-destructive society constantly shaming people for their age, shape and so on. This has to stop, let's be a new movement putting things back into a human perspective and letting go of all this superficial bullcrap.

For the logo that I designed here I used the Chloe font that I altered a bit to give it a unique style. I wanted to keep it as minimal as possible because I also keep my skincare as minimal as possible and the design reflects my approach quite well.
