inhale courage, exhale fear // affirmations
It is shocking how often we are led by fear. I totally speak from my own experience here but I know that I am not the only one dealing with it, most of us are and being led by fear often leads to not good decisions and consequences. I had not even realised how much I am led by fear until I started reading Denise Duffield-Thomas, Gabby Bernstein and Jen Sincero. Fear is awful, fear is paralysing us and holding us back. Fear blocks our mind and emotions, fear steals our sleep and also my appetite. Once you realise what being led by fear does to you and your life it is like a big shock and also a wake up call to finally say ‘I choose better’.
Have you ever heard of German Angst? Well, we are a whole nation led by fear of the unknown, the unplanned, the unexpected - basically fear is a major ruling part here and it is good for the economy because you can sell Germans a million different insurances so they can feel ‘safe’ which of course is utter bullshit since those companies only want your money and once you need them and they are supposed to pay they will do everything to get out of it. Yeah, great system dear Germany. Getting out of the fear and fight or flight mode after years of indoctrination of the German sense of ‘security’ and basically fearing everything, it is not so easy to leave that fear-based hamster wheel.
Fear is powerful but so are you. Recognising how influential fear is is the first step to be able to step up and to send the fear to hell. Of course easier said than done but I think it is a matter of practise. Everything that makes us feel well, that brings us joy and happiness, that makes us laugh - all of that helps to conquer the feeling of fear. And that is what we should aim for to create more of. more of what brings us emotions and feelings that lift us up instead of leaving all the power to fear because fear is holding us back from being the person we want to be and living the life we actually really want to live.
